Hard techno is known for fast tempos, powerful kick drums and intense, driving rhythms. At a rave, you'll experience the music through a large sound system, often accompanied by impressive lighting and visuals.

One of the most common questions before a first rave is what to wear. In many hard techno scenes, dark streetwear, oversized T-shirts, cargo pants and industrial-inspired accessories are popular. But you don't need to copy anyone else's outfit.
A black oversized tee with baggy jeans or cargo trousers is an easy starting point. Combine it with comfortable sneakers that you've already worn before. Avoid anything that restricts movement or constantly needs adjusting.

Hard techno events can be extremely loud. Bring properly fitted earplugs designed for music events to reduce noise exposure. Hearing protection is one of the most important things you can take with you.
02. TAKE BREAKS AND STAY HYDRATED
Dancing in a crowded venue can become physically demanding. Drink water according to your needs, take regular breaks and find a cooler area if you start feeling overheated.
03. KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS SECURE
Take only what you need. Keep your phone, ID, ticket and payment method in a secure bag or closed pocket. Check the event's bag policy before you arrive.
04. PLAN YOUR JOURNEY HOME
Know how you're getting home before the event starts. Check public transport schedules, arrange a lift or plan a safe alternative. A charged phone and a meeting point with your friends are useful too.
05. DON'T FEEL PRESSURED
You don't have to stay until the final track, dance nonstop or do anything you're uncomfortable with. Enjoy your first rave on your own terms. If you or someone else feels unwell, seek help from venue staff or the medical team.

Raves are shared spaces. A little consideration can make the experience better for everyone. Respect people's personal space, avoid pushing through the crowd and apologise if you accidentally bump into someone.
